类型:qbank
Hiring-manager round. Mostly resume-driven STAR-format questions; recent rounds add an explicit AI-usage sub-block. Recruiter ratings on this round drive the final decision in close cases.
Requirements
Reporters converge on this set of behavioral prompts:
Why Stripe?
Most impactful / proud project — be ready for deep follow-ups ("how was it graded?", "how big was the team?", "how did you implement X?").
A technical challenge you faced and how you resolved it.
A time you had a conflict with a peer or manager.
A time you had to make a fast decision and what the basis was.
A time you mentored someone.
How would your current manager describe you?
Where do you want to be in two years after joining?
Top three qualities you bring to Stripe.
(Recent) How do you incorporate AI into your day-to-day engineering work?
Notes
One report says the HM round had effectively zero technical content and felt like a placeholder.
The reference-check process is intense (~30-min calls with each reference). Multiple offers have been retracted after this stage — "no strong signal from references" is the standard wording.
Recent reports add 5-10 min at the end of HM rounds about "how do you use AI" as a recurring theme.
Scope and impact are separate grading axes even when a project story covers business outcomes, cross-team collaboration, and end-to-end ownership. State the scale of responsibility explicitly and quantify the decision boundary you personally owned.
Preparation
Have at least three deeply-rehearsed stories: an impactful project, a cross-team conflict, a fast/under-pressure decision. Each should support 2-3 follow-ups.
Prepare an explicit "why Stripe" pitch grounded in payments / developer-platform specifics, not generic company praise.
Coordinate with your references in advance — Stripe's reference calls are 30 minutes each and probe technical depth, not just culture fit.
Have one concrete answer ready for "how do you use AI in your work today".
