类型:qbank
Roblox HM, director, and executive conversations are short but high-leverage. They consistently weight traffic / scope of past work, ownership under ambiguity, product-specific motivation, and proactive decision-making; a strong technical loop can still fail at final matching if these signals are thin.
Requirements
The HM round draws from a small repertoire of behavioral prompts, all targeting the same axes:
Scale of past systems: peak QPS, daily-active-user count, storage volume, geographic distribution. Be ready with concrete numbers for at least one prior system.
Scope and ownership: a project you drove end-to-end with little oversight. What decisions did you make unilaterally vs. escalate?
Cross-team collaboration: an example of partnering with a downstream consumer or upstream producer team to ship something neither team could ship alone.
Disagreement / conflict: a time you pushed back on a senior engineer or a manager. How did you frame it, and what was the outcome?
Project challenge narrative: introduce yourself, walk through a recent project, explain the hardest part, define your exact role, and be ready for follow-ups on who opposed the work and how you persuaded them.
Why Roblox specifically: usually asked in director / culture round, not HM. Reward concrete observations about the platform (creator economy, multi-generational user base, UGC moderation challenges).
Feedback and judgment: a time you delivered difficult feedback, a conflict with your manager, and a case where you disagreed but ultimately followed another person's judgment. Explain what evidence or context shaped the final decision.
Notes
Be ready with one prior system, two numbers — peak QPS and daily storage growth. Multiple HMs have re-asked the same question two different ways to verify the candidate actually knows the numbers vs. is hand-waving.
HMs ask follow-ups like "what was the scale you worked on?" specifically because they're calibrating against Roblox's own scale (hundreds of millions of users, billions of events / day). A small-traffic project is acceptable if you can speak fluently about what it took to operate it.
The director round is often a 30-minute culture chat. Recruiters in pre-loop calls explicitly advise candidates to spend time on the Roblox platform before this round — director-level interviewers reward concrete product observations and downgrade generic "games are fun" answers.
Disagreement stories should land on a decision and an outcome. Roblox values self-driven decisions; vague "we discussed it as a team" answers signal weak ownership.
When a project story includes early opposition, name the stakeholder group, the reason for resistance, and the artifact / experiment / metric that changed the decision.
The HM round is the most common silent-fail signal in the loop. If the HM cuts to Q&A early or stays mostly quiet, take it as a signal to drive specifics and ask the HM what success looks like in the role.
Some HMs run the 45-minute round as a rapid-fire checklist — 15+ short behavioral questions with no follow-up on any single answer. Bring a broad set of short, distinct stories rather than two or three deep ones, or you will run out of fresh material before the questions stop.
Executive / final-round layer
Recent frontend / fullstack loops add a final executive conversation after a successful HM match. The prompt set is still behavioral, but the scoring axis shifts from day-to-day execution to judgment and direction-setting:
Why Roblox, with concrete product reasons rather than generic gaming enthusiasm.
Why you left previous companies; be ready to explain the pattern across multiple moves, not only the most recent one.
A challenging project where you made proactive decisions instead of waiting for direction.
How your project choices and career moves show ownership, not just technical execution.
The negative signal to avoid is "not enough proactive decision-making." Prepare one story where you chose the project direction and one story where you changed course without being told to.
Preparation
Build a 1-page STAR matrix: 8 stories pre-mapped to the 4 axes above (scale, scope, collaboration, conflict), each with 1 sentence on situation, 2 on action, 1 on result.
Memorize the two numbers (peak QPS, storage / day) for your headline system. Rehearse saying them naturally.
Spend 60–90 minutes inside a top Roblox experience before director round. Have 1 product observation ready that you couldn't have made without playing.
Pre-write 3 questions for the HM that probe the role's actual day-to-day: what's the team's on-call rhythm, what shipped last quarter, what would the first 90 days look like.
